Still-Life Studies

When I work on my final still life painting I need to remember to clearly  define shadows, and make sure that the edges of where two objects or an object and the background meet that they are easily seen as separate. The technique that worked best for me was blending. It was the most effective way of showing changes in value and getting a smooth transition between light and dark. The study in which I used blending looked the most clean and showed highlights and dark parts the best. I couldn't even figure out how to incorporate texture or dry brush or any other techniques either.
